Donald Ashwander (1929-1994) was a prolific composer and has been recognized as an innovator in the contemporary ragtime movement over the past three decades. Though he received high acclaim for his recordings, much of his printed music was not available to the public until two years ago.

In 1996, two years following his death, "The Music of Donald Ashwander - Volume I" was released by the Ashwander family and is now available to pianists, music educators and students of piano technique and composition everywhere. This is the first volume in a planned series of Donald Ashwander music folios.

For the first volume, the Ashwander family selected 10 compositions from his unreleased 1989 recording, "On the Highwire". Many believe this to be quintessential Ashwander. Also included is a fully mastered cassette of Ashwander playing the pieces selected for this music folio.
