James F. Andris
was born in Marietta, Ohio, on December 3, 1938. He escaped from Marietta to the world with his
graduation from Marietta College in 1960. He only returns occasionally to see family and
classmates. After casting about for 10 more years for a way to spend his life, he ended up
teaching at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for 32 years, and is about to retire from
there. Jim has written 9 rags, one sonata, several classical pieces, and over a hundred songs
in these categories: popular, universal folk, religious and humorous. None of these songs has
yet been published. He is currently a Board member of the
Friends of Scott Joplin
in St. Louis, Missouri and performs at the monthly Ragtime Rendezvous at Dressel's Café.
All ragtime compositions by Jim Andris are available in PDF format, and can be obtained directly from the composer. E-mail Jim at jandris@swbell.net for more info.
